Majority of batsmen find difficulty in scoring test runs away from home especially in SENA countries. SENA countries usually offer pace and bouncy tracks. So Asian batsmen find a bit of difficulty in playing in those conditions since they normally play in spinning tracks in the sub-continents. Following list will show top 10 Indian players with most runs in SENA countries in test

[10] Virendar Sehwag (1788)

Sehwag played 29 matches in SENA countries & smashed 1788 runs at an average of 33.11 with 4 centuries & 6 half centuries. 195 was his best score in SENA countries which came in 2003 boxing day test match against Australia in Melbourne. His total runs country wise

Note : Sehwag also played one more match for ICC World XI in Australia & scored 83 runs. So Sehwag scored total 1871 test runs in 30 matches in SENA countries but for India he scored 1788 runs.

[9] Cheteshwar Pujara (1793)

With 1793 runs in 27 matches (52 innings) Pujara is in number 9 in the list. He has cored 1793 runs at an average of 35.15 including 5 centuries & 7 half centuries. His best score in SENA countries is 193 which came against Australia in 2019 at Sydney.

[8] Gundappa Viswanath (1805)

Like Pujara, Gundappa Viswanath also played 27 matches & scored 1805 runs in 50 innings at an average of 38.40. He scored 16 half centuries & 2 centuries. During his playing days South Africa didn’t play any test matches due to the ban. 114 was his best score & like previous two players it also came against Australia (Melbourne).

[7] Dilip Vengsarkar (2014)

Dilip Vengsarkar is 7th in the list with 2014 runs. Vengsarkar played 64 innings in 34 matches & scored 2014 averaging 34.72 including 10 half centuries & 4 centuries. He is the only foreign player to score 3 centuries at the Lord’s. His other century came at the Adelaide.

[6] Sourav Ganguly (2311)

In 32 matches Ganguly amassed a total of 2311 runs in 32 matches (59 innings) with 13 half centuries & 5 centuries at an average of 42.01. His best score in SENA countries was 144 came at Brisbane in 2003.

[5] Sunil Gavaskar (2464)

Sunil Gavaskar scored 2464 runs in 33 matches & 57 innings including 11 half centuries & 8 centuries. His best 221 came against England in 1979 at The Oval.

[4] VVS Laxman (2710)

With 2710 runs VVS Laxman is 4th in list of scoring most test runs in SENA countries by an India. He played 75 innings in 41 matches in which he scored 2710 with the help of 15 half centuries & 5 centuries.

Virat Kohli is 3rd in the list with 2811 runs to his name. He scored 2811 at an average of 46.85 including 11 centuries & 9 half centuries in 31 matches (61 innings)

Rahul Dravid played 46 test matches & 89 innings in SENA conditions & in those matches he scored 3909 runs with 17 half centuries & 10 centuries at an average of 49.48. He also scored 2 double hundred, one at Adelaide & the other one came at The Oval.

It’s not a great surprise to find Sachin Tendulkar at the top of the list. He scored 5387 at an average of over 50 (51.30) in 114 innings & 63 matches. 17 centuries & 23 half centuries came from his willow. 241* is his best score which came in the last test match of Steve Waugh at Sydney.
