[1] Brothers Playing For Two Different Countries In A Same Match

(A) The Hearne Brothers

The match was played between England & South Africa in 1892 at Capetown. In the match Alec & George Hearne was playing for England , while their brother Frank was playing for South Africa.

Frank Hearne had also served England for 2 matches in the year 1889. Interestingly , Alec & George Hearne made their debut in the match & it was also their last match.

(B) The Joyce Brothers

ED Joyce & his brother Dominic Joyce both made their debut in a same odi match in 2007 but for 2 opposite countries. ED was playing for England , in the other hand Dominic was playing for Ireland.

ED has played 17 odi & 2 T20 matches for England then he shifted to his birth nation Ireland.

[2] 4 Sets Of Brothers In A Match

Zimbabwe VS Newzeland , 5 October 1997 , Harare

In the match Zimbabwe was playing with 4 different set of brothers.

There was Flower brothers (Andy & Grant Flower), Bryan brothers (Paul & Bryan Strang), Rennie brothers (John & Gavin Rennie) & Whittall brothers ( Guy & Andy Whittall).

Note : Guy & Andy Whittall are cousin brothers.

[3] 3 Brothers In A Match

(A) William , Edward & George Grace (1880)

It was a match between England & Australia in 1880 at The Oval where 3 Grace brothers were playing for England in a same match.

(B) Alec , George & Frank Hearne (1892)

As mentioned before , Alec & George were playing for England & their brother frank was palying for South Africa in a match in 1892 at Capetown.

(C) Hanif , Mushtaq & Sadiq Mohammad (1969)

Three Mohammad brothers played together in a match between Pakistan & New Zeland in 1969 at Karachi.

[4] Twin Brothers Dismissing Each Other

There is only one such instance , when twin brothers dismissed each other in a same match in first class history.

In a county match between Lancashire & Leicestershire in 2019 , Callum Parkinson was dismissed (LBW) by his brother Matthew in the first innings of Leicestershire.

And in the first innings of Lancashire Matthew was dismissed (LBW) by his brother Callum.

Note : There are 2 more instance when twin brother dismissed another twin but in those cases they did not dismiss each other .

[5] Identical Records

In the 1978 first class season David Steele scored 1182 runs in 31 innings with the help of 3 centuries & with an average of 38.12.

While , his brother John Steele also scored 1182 runs in 31 innings including 3 centuries & with an average of 38.12 in 1978 first class season.

[6] Brother Duo To Take 10 Wicket Haul

WG Grace & EM Grace are the only brother duo to take 10 wicket haul in an innings in first class cricket history.

WG Grace has taken 10 wicket haul in an innings 2 different times. One against against Kent in 1873 & other against Oxford University in 1886

While , EM Grace has taken 10 wicket haul in 1862 against Gentlemen of Kent.

[7] Brother Duo To Score 1000 Odi Runs At Same Ground

Andy & Grant Flower are the only brother duo to score 1000 odi runs at a same venue in odi. Andy has scored 1291 runs at Harare & Grant has scored 1099 runs at Harare.

[8] Identical Twins To Play Same Test Match

Hamish & James Marshall are the identical twins to play in a same test match. They played in a same match against Australia in 2005 at Eden Park , Aucland.

[9] Waugh Brothers Have Served For Ireland

Steve Waugh played 6 matches for Ireland against Australia A in 1998. While Mark did so in 2000 against Zimbabwe.
