Today we are starting series called rising stars, where we shall interview upcoming players from around the world,to know them a little bit better.
On our first segment of the Rising Star we are absolutly thrilled to have the wonderkid from South Africa Nhlanhla Martin Ndlamini.
Hi, Martin tell us a little about yourself?
Name is NM Dlamini, I’m 22 years of age. I’m an opening batsman and I am currently in the Dolphins Academy. I live in a place called Lindelani in Durban and I live with my mother and my six siblings.
How did you get into cricket?
I started playing cricket at the age of 12 in my primary school. Though I played most of my cricket outside the school in a Sunfoil Development Program founded by Mr Linda Zondi. This program gave me a shot at this game and I am where I am today because of it and I am truly grateful.
Who Inspired you growing up?
AB de Villiers. Special talent and won a lot of games for the Proteas.
You only just made your list A debut for Kwa Zulu Natal, how was that feeling?
Yeah, I made my List-A debut on the 10th of October 2019. It was a really proud and special moment for me. Unfortunately, we didn’t play good cricket on the day but me being on the field that day with the Coastals badge on my shirt was confirmation that it’s all possible and that I can play at that level.
You are a very good all-rounder, and obviously on cricket South Africa’s radar for future, what is do you think will set you apart from other players?
Despite my desire to do well on the cricket field, it is my desire to win a world cup for this country to unite us all, to change all races to one race: the human race.
If given an opportunity, what player past or present would you love to play alongside?
Dane Vilas. I have been fortunate enough to have one-on-one sessions with him working on my batting and he has been kind enough to let me reach out to him for advice even when he’s away. He’d be my definite pick.
What are your future goals as a cricketer?
All I want is to captain the Proteas ODI team and win a world cup for this country. Anything more than that is God blessing me.
How would you define success?
Success in my opinion is seeing all your dreams and imaginations into reality. Success is living that. It is seeing what you want in your head first, and then working hard enough to eventually turn it into your reality.
An amazing interview with the wonder kid from South Africa, You Belive it You Achieve it, and we are certain the Name N M Ndalmini will be printed on a proteas shirt, N.M.Ndlamini remember the name…
